Presentation

Bachat Bouloud totems (1961-1962) are sculptures of Pierre Székely.
You can still see today a giant totem marking the entrance of Bachat-Bouloud sector (Chamrousse 1700) and two little totems.
Bachat-Bouloud was a children's village, made of big chalets, which sheltered thousands of kids each year. But a decrease in demands, the cost of renovation work, and a general change of attitude put an end to this project.

There were 8 totems at first, one for each of the children's village of France at the time. 5 of them disappeared during the construction of the tourism residence Les Domaines de l'Arselle.
Those 8 villages belonged to 12 communities: village n°1 to Mantes-la-Jolie, n°2 to Echirolles, Eybens and Tarare, n°3 to Bas-Rhin, n°4 to Isère and Saint-Marcelin, n°5 to Loiret, n°6 to Villeurbanne and La Marne, n°7 to Lyon and village n°8 to Boulogne-Billancourt.

The commemorative stone (1961): the cornerstone of Bachat-Bouloud children's village was laid on the 17th of July 1961 by Mr.Herzog, from the youth and sports status section. Casserousse slope was just being finished.
